WAGES OF SIN.

When Oedipus and Jocasta begin to get close to the truth about Laius's murder,Oedipus fastens onto a detail in the hope of hiding himself.Jocasta says that she was told that Laius was killed by 'stranger',where Oedipus knows that he acted alone when he killed a man in similar incidents. This is an extraordinary moment because it calls into question the entire truth-seeking process Oedipus believes himself to be in great danger.Oedipus and Jocasta act as though the servant's story, is history. They can't face the possibility of what it would mean if the servant was wrong. This is why Jocasta feels she can tell Oedipus of the prophecy that her son would kill his father, and Oedipus can tell her about the similar prophecy given him by an oracle. While the information in these speeches is intended to make the audience aware of the tragic irony,it also emphasizes just how desperately Oedipus and Jocasta do not want to speak the obvious truth untill they look at the circumstances and details of everyday life and pretend not to see them.

the director is here.

Writing a play is a challenging task and at the same time mind-blowing activity.Me and my partner,Amirul wanted to come out with something extraordinary.A play unlike any else. But somehow we realized making something extraordinary is quite impossible.Just because this is our first play,so we decided to make it simple. Not forgetting the aspect of language and grammar,we carefully chose our words and our story lines. The play is about a young troubled who is having a bogus conversation with his dead family. At the end,he realizes all his past mistakes and begs from God to grant him more time with his family. It sounds really simple but totally meaningful especially for teenagers.

SHE'S THE MAN!!!

The Elizabeth in this movie, played by Cate Blanchett,is unsure of herself in her new role as queen, literally jiggling in her seat. She is portrayed as naive and in love for Lord Robert .In fact, the woman who donned the English coronation was a hardened and practiced politician who was not afraid of her power, and knew how to use it.She was raised in the reign of her father,King Henry, learning only too well how dangerous even a slight personal or political mistakes could be Elizabeth's strength of character came from surviving the incident of being the only offspring of Anne Boleyn, bastardized, patronized, and often threatened with physical harm, even death.Keenly intelligent, she was taught by the finest teachers,as befitted a true Renaissance queen.By the time she came to the throne,in addition to her political situation, she managed to be the real 'king'.

KILL THEN KING!!!

As in Antigone, the entrance of Tiresias signals a crucial turning point in the plot. But in Oedipus the King, Tiresias also serves an additional role. His blindness augments the dramatic irony that governs the play. Tiresias is blind but can see the truth.Oedipus has his sight but cannot.Oedipus claims that he longs to know the truth.Tiresias says that seeing the truth only brings pain.In addition to this irony, the conversation between Tiresias and Oedipus is filled with references to sight and eyes.As Oedipus gets angrier,he taunts Tiresias for his blindness, confusing physical sight and insight,or knowledge.Tiresias matches Oedipus insult for insult, mocking Oedipus for his eyesight and for the brilliance that once allowed him to solve the riddle.Neither quality is now helping Oedipus to see the truth nor the hidden.
